🏠 For Homeowners
Absolutely — Quoteboiler is completely free for homeowners. We charge the gas engineers a small fee when you select them, so you never pay us anything. You just compare quotes and pick the best one.
Every engineer on Quoteboiler is Gas Safe registered — that's a legal requirement to work on gas appliances in the UK. We verify their registration before they can join the platform. You can also see each engineer's ratings and reviews from other homeowners who've used them.
Most customers receive their first quotes within a few hours. Some engineers respond within minutes. You'll get an email notification as soon as a new quote comes in, so you don't need to keep checking the site.
Not at all. You're never obligated to accept any quote. If the prices aren't right, you can wait for more quotes, message the engineers directly to ask questions, or simply close the request — no pressure and no fees.
Not necessarily. Price is just one factor. We recommend also looking at the engineer's star rating, years of experience, response time, and what's included in their quote (labour, parts, warranty). Sometimes paying a little more for a highly rated engineer is well worth it.
Always check: what's included (labour, parts, warranty period), what might NOT be included (old boiler disposal, additional pipework, flue changes), and whether the price is fixed or could change. Watch out for red flags: unusually low quotes with no breakdown, "final price may vary" without explanation, or no mention of a boiler warranty.
Your contract is directly with the engineer you choose — Quoteboiler is a marketplace, not the contractor. However, we take quality seriously. If you have a problem, contact the engineer first. If they're unresponsive, you can raise a complaint with us and we'll investigate. For serious gas safety concerns, contact Gas Safe Register directly at gassaferegister.co.uk or call 0800 408 5577.
Your contact details are shared only with the Gas Safe engineers matched to your quote request. We never sell your data to third parties. We're registered with the ICO and fully GDPR compliant. You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing privacy@quoteboiler.com.
🔧 For Engineers & Partners
Yes — absolutely. Gas Safe registration is a legal requirement to work on gas appliances in the UK, and it's a non-negotiable for listing on Quoteboiler. We verify every registration number before your profile goes live.
You only pay when you accept a lead. Lead fees range from £15 (boiler repair) to £40 (heat pump installation). A commission of 2–3% of the agreed job value is invoiced monthly for completed jobs. There are no monthly subscriptions. Your first lead is free.
Yes. You only pay for leads you decide to accept. If a job isn't right for you — wrong area, wrong job type, already booked up — simply decline it with no charge.
You must respond within 24 hours, or mark yourself as unavailable. Engineers who respond within 2 hours win significantly more jobs — homeowners comparing quotes tend to go with whoever replies fastest and most helpfully.
You can pause your account from your dashboard at any time. You'll stop receiving leads while paused. Reactivate whenever you're ready — no penalties, no fees for downtime.
No — this is a breach of our Partner Terms & Conditions. All communication with homeowners must go through the Quoteboiler platform. Engineers found taking customers off-platform to avoid commission will be removed and charged a penalty fee.
🔥 About Boilers
The cost varies significantly based on boiler type, brand, and your home's requirements. As a rough guide: a standard combi boiler replacement typically costs £1,500–£3,000 including installation. A system boiler or heat-only boiler can be £2,000–£4,000+. Getting multiple quotes through Quoteboiler is the best way to understand what's fair for your specific job.
A like-for-like boiler replacement typically takes 1 day. If additional work is needed — new pipework, moving the boiler location, or upgrading to a different type — it can take 2–3 days. Your engineer will tell you the expected duration in their quote.
Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, and Baxi are consistently the top-rated brands in the UK, offering reliability and long warranties. Viessmann and Ideal are also well regarded. The best brand for you depends on your budget and your engineer's recommendation — they'll know what suits your home.
Heat pumps are more energy-efficient long-term and the UK government is encouraging the switch. However, they cost significantly more to install (£8,000–£15,000) and work best in well-insulated homes. Gas boilers remain cheaper to install and are the right choice for most homes today. Quoteboiler can get you quotes for both — compare and decide what works for your situation.
